COMMENTS:  Waterman hard rubber 52's are highly collectable. Value ascends from smooth black to chased black to woodgrain to ripple and finally to cardinal red.    The solid-gold-band variants are well less common than typical gold-filled.   this one shows bit of oxidation to the rubber, but has smooth clean finish. Decent not perfect imprint. Nice writer with bit of flex.

COMMENTS: Aikin-Lambert was bought by Waterman during the 1920's, resulting in  Waterman-esque Aikins, often including  flat-top pens in  unusual colors (for Waterman) or seemingly with left-over Waterman material (eg. ripple).  I've owned two or three of these relatively hefty Aikins in Jade celluloid. The bandless cap with flat-top styling adds to the charm.  The color on this one is well better than average though not perfect. The overall even color is shade or so away from ideal, with a bit of darkening by the cap.  The nib is... outstanding. Smooth with good inkflow-it can flex from fine to double broad (maybe more).  A grand writer. Do treat it gently when you get it. Noodles can... snap... if overworked.

COMMENTS:    Based apparently on the black Waterman Commando, this 1940's pen is catalogued- at least in 1947, probably produced before that.. Designed for clergy and available in two sizes, this is the larger of the two. I see one of these for every couple hundred non-cleric versions. Neat item. Nice fine flex nib.

COMMENTS:  A sharp example of Early 1930's Waterman celluloid. Priced a below the Waterman Patrician, #7, 94 and Lady Patrician, it nonetheless is as plump as, and longer than, the Lady Patricia. It featured some colors not used in the other series. It features typical high quality Waterman craftsmanship. This one pops, near mint, sharp end steps and razor imprint.  Great flex nib too.

COMMENTS:  LE Waterman, oldest of the Big-4, produced a huge array of overlay pens. The 0552 1/2V  effectively is a LEC (lower-end-covered) model, but this size does not receive the LEC marking as this is implicit to overlays of this size.  Found in gold filled, sterling and solid gold overlays, these are the entry point to overlay Watermans.  With GF overlay the pen is model 0552 1/2V. If sterling, it would be 452 1/2V. Solid gold would be 552 1/2V Clean set. No dings. 1mm or so of plating loss by the breather holes from ink exposure. Crisp metal, especially the fragile knurled butt end.   Killer high flex nib (goes from fine to triple broad) with ink flow that keeps up.

COMMENTS:   The mid 1930's Waterman Ink View was Waterman's answer to the Parker Vacumatic, though its engineering was a bit more conventional.  Popular collectables, these are much more scarce than most Vacumatic pens (guess Parker was winning the battle back then), and this Deluxe model with triple capband is well less common than the regular model. This one packs a Waterman Keyhole "Blue" nib usually considered a blunt stub. This one- from Canada as is the rest of pen- has a definite oblique cut to it.  The pencil is flawed. The clip  crimped with an early crack about 1/3 from the top. Runs across the clip. Can see in pic. I tossed this one into the set "free"

COMMENTS:  Most of the short lever filling Waterman HR pens are of the  52 1/2 V sort.  The fat stubby series (no "1/2" in the model number) as i follow it ranges from 51V (actually not so fat for that one) up to 56V.  A cardinal red 52 V is heftier than the slender line pens (sort of by definition, i s'pose). This one is all correct, has very clean trim, sharp imprints and a nice nib.

COMMENTS:   Waterman's would-be Vacumatic Fighter. Gorgeous set. Nice fine point with respectable flex. The bottom Waterman Globe has been replaced with identical appearing replacement (these often are lost as they'd just been glued on in the 1930's).  This one has been epoxied on by El Zorno and should be good for our lifetimes :)

COMMENTS:  A squat stubby pen, the 52 V is less common than the typical full-lenth 52, less common still than the thin 52 1/2V ringtops. This one is a functions well, writing a fine line that shows moderate flex, though not so much as a "Red" or "Pink" keyhole nib.  Trim with light brassing-- edge of cap-band and clip ball--.  Imprint strong in places, light in others

The 0552 1/2V  effectively is a LEC (lower-end-covered) model, but this size does not receive the LEC marking as this is implicit to overlays of this size.  Found in gold filled, sterling and solid gold overlays, these are the entry point to overlay Watermans.  With GF overlay the pen is model 0552 1/2V. If sterling, it would be 452 1/2V. Solid gold packs the 552 1/2V imprint.  This one is Hand Engraved Vine, one of the most desirable patterns. It appears to be in green gold filled instead of the usual yellow. The cartouche is unengraved.

COMMENTS:  Most Waterman overlays show the underlying hard rubber down by the butt of the pen. the LEC (Lower End Covered/Closed) models have a milled overlay even at the bottom. Almost no use-wear sows on the pen though there are a couple pin dings near very top. A crisp  lovely pen with a nice flex nib- moderate flex not "ultra wet noodle"

COMMENTS:  Known best for some glorious overlay eyedropper-fill pens from twenty years earlier, Aikin Lambert eventually came under the ownership of LE Waterman and took on a rather Waterman-ish look, though often featuring smaller nibs than similar Waterman-branded pens. This one is rather clean. No clip brassing.  The plastic has an area of translucency opposite the clip, but the color overall is sound. Most jade has discolored well more than this. Big pen.

COMMENTS:  Waterman's Ripple hard rubber pens are key collectables from the 1920's. The #7, with color coded cap insert and nib, is based on the Model 55. really the 01855 given the trim style.  Unlike many, this example has superb HR, with no texturization (caused by overpolishing a pen withvariable hardness due to colorants). Imprints are better than some and worse than others. The main barrel imprint is solid, the lower imprint is light. The bottom "7" is sharp. The RED nib is a flexible nib, and this one gets close to some of the PINK nibs for flex. No craquelure is present   such as is seen on so many of the cap inserts.  Trim shows the usual clip-ball brassing but also a speck or two on capband and about a quarter of the lever.  A serviceable #7 with nice nib and modest wear but with no fatal flaws,

COMMENTS:  This eminently collectable 1930's Waterman pen (priced in the Patrician, "7" and Lady Patricia range). Clean trim and nice pen, it is thrown a bit over the top by presence of a Canadian Waterman Music Nib- effectively a BBB-Stub by virtue of its three tines.  Grand user in collector-grade pen. It is noted (for the meticulous) that this is a Canadian nib in a USA-manufactured pen.

If sterling, it would be 452 1/2V. Solid gold packs the 552 1/2V imprint.    This pen is in the high cachet hand-engraved-vine pattern, which when found in proper stater has an engraved matching sterling lever. This one is very clean with no dings, no engraving in cartouche and clean vines. I tend to leave original patina on these (as do most collectors), but if you want a shiny bright pen, i'll be happy to polish before shipping. Great Nib!

COMMENTS:  LE Waterman, oldest of the Big-4, produced a huge array of overlay pens.  The long thin 52 1/2  is the core model.  With GF overlay the pen is model 0552 1/2. If sterling, it would be 452 1/2. Solid gold packs the 552 1/2 imprint.  This pen features a "wet noodle" flexible nib, ranging from XF to BB+, with a bit of tooth. Trim is clean. Cartouche has initials stamped (as do most) in this case "H.M" in elegant script. No dings. Couple pin marks. Nice tight clip. Trace brassing at top edge of cap.  The metal imprints are all sharp. The "0552 1/2" has worn away from the very bottom of pen.

COMMENTS: Waterman 54- starting in 1917- indicated a lever filling screw cap pen, with a #4 nib.  Other size nibs would result in differnet numbers within that  "50's" (or 5X)  series.  This one has rich color, sharp barrel imprint and clean trim. Nib- whilst not quite "wet noodle" in feel, readily flexes from XF to BB.

COMMENTS:  About the last of the great pens from Waterman, this is the third style OS produced. Jet Black by far is the most stable of the colors. This one has a nice Fine pen with moderate (but not wet-noodle) flex and was restored by Richard, who has placed its image up on the profile he just finished of the "100 Year".   This one has a tight hairline under the clip (missed it at first peek) at the top of the cap plastic.   Priced down dramatically from the pre-discovery point.  Nice big user, otherwise very clean.

COMMENTS:  Waterman's answer to the Parker Vacumatic,  the Ink-View is popular with collectors though far less prevalent than the Vacumatic. This one is a greeny with Waterman Purple Nib- Fine-XF Firm.  I had not noticed it, but was informed by my restoration expert that there was a crack in the plastic of the blind cap at the back end of the pen. This lesion has been sealed. I can identify it with a good loupe.  Pen has been priced down drastically
