| COMMENTS:
This
Vac Quack is fond of
striped 1940's Duofolds, having dozens in the collection. Button Fill
pens less often can be offered for sale and the vast majority of those
are the catalogued smooth-band variety. The factory-issue "Jeweler's"
cap-band pens are well less common and represent a serious bump in
cachet. Available in four colors and two sizes, one could hunt 8 of
these. I've got 'em all. This one is the larger of the two sizes, in Dusty Red celluloid. Very clean pen with minimal trim speckling here n' there. |

| COMMENTS: This Senior represents the largest model of striped
duofold. The series ran from 1940-1948. As large as a Slender Maxima
Parker Vacumatic, it employs the Vac's filling system. The Duofold is a high
quality pen which features the marbled-striped celluloid on a pen
which essentially is a Parker Vacumatic. More than 100 variants can be
identified. Vacumania actively collects the striped Duofold series. This one has nice color, decent imprint, smooth fine nib and not much barel clarity |

| COMMENTS: Lumped
into the garbage-can term "Thrift Time Pen", the revelation of a Dec
1933 Parkergram allowed specific description of this model for the
first time. Available in four colors and two sizes with the
smaller size found with clip or ring, one can collect 12 catalogue
described variants. Hefty pens, the stepped clip ties to the 1934 Type
II Parker Parkette and evokes pens by Eclipse and Monroe, amongst
others. The matching end-pieces add charm. Often found discolored,
crazed or quite worn, this one lacks those problems. The only negative
are a few specks of brassing on the clip. Eye-popping color |

| COMMENTS: Parker's pastel pens from the late 1920's can be found in a variety of evolutionary styles in both pure and moire patterns. This one is a ratherrrr nice example. Pen has excellent color, minimal trim wear, but does show some central lightness of the imprint. Pencil is excellent. A nice flexible nib on the pen only enhances the package. | |||

| COMMENTS: A plump vintage Duofold, this one has the wide "maxima" cap-band, but is stubby in contour. A squat chunky pen. Aerometric self-filler. This english pen is about the size of a Vacumatic Major. It packs a smooth broad point. Obviously, the pen has been personalized. This is the "affordable user" from the bunch. Perhaps i shall plonk it into "Vacumania's Basement" should life give me the couple hours free to address that orphan page. Nice nib. | |||

PRICE: $165 SOLD |
| COMMENTS: Striped Duofold was the first Parker Series available with two different self-filling systems, either vac-fill or button-fill. This one (as with all black blind-cap DF's) is a button filler. Button-fill DF's were catalogued with medium smooth cap-band only, but uncatalogued pens crop up with the so-called "Jeweler's" lined band and- in blue/gray only- twith the triple thin band. No one seems to know why this band appeared only on blue pens. This one has couple light marks to plastic and capbands. Unbrassed. | |||

| COMMENTS: These slender pens were offered in a radical colors spread and made the jump to the streamlined era at Parker. A nice example. Good color, though ont perfect. The fine point Parker Pen nib is from the mid 1930's. Trim clean with bit of brassing at top of clip as well as the "usual" clip-ball area. Top end piec shows light definition of the knurling. | |||

| COMMENTS: About the length of a Duofold Senior, this chased hard rubber, bandless, white-trimmed pen features a #4 Parker Lucky Curve nib. The pen is intact and sound, but shows obvious wear. The hard rubber has olived (I'm not a big fan of recoloring), the white trim still shows some original lustre, but has speckling, brassing, as shown. Imprint is light and is centrally gone. Still, a sweet flex Medium point clean Lucky Curve #4, which likely retails not far from the cost of the complete restored pen. | |||

| COMMENTS: The Lucky Curve (Jack Knife Safety imprints early on) preceded and overlapped the Duofold, whose basic looks is shared between the two series. Often, but not always, underpricing the Duofold, the Lucky Curve JKS series presented a wide variety of sizes and of trim configurations. This one... pops. Superb original color and chasing, the imprint is razor sharp (poorly shown in the diffuse-light photo abrove). This is the cleanest chased (which is what adds the "1/2" to the model number) BHR Lucky Curve i've owned. If you've looked at worn out black hard rubber pens and wondered why folks rushed to buy them back in the day (not that there was much alternative), this is the sort of pen that makes the aesthetic appeal quite clear. Flex nib does not hurt. Restored and ready to write. | |||
