The Occasion: The 70th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. |
||
The Pen: Commissioned
by yours truly-- David R. Isaacson-- from Bexley Pens, this
special edition is based on the Bexley Poseidon and embraces an
artistic take on the colors of the Israeli flag. The cap, gripping
sections and finials are "Israeli flag" blue, while the barrel is
pearlescent white. Rhodium plated trim, rather than the usual gold
plated, was chosen for a closer aesthetic match. Each cap will have an appropriate laser engraving (still under discussion with the various pen groups), indicating the special edition status for Israel's 70th (possibly in Hebrew as well). Each
pen will carry Bexley registration card and warranty. Two tone
stainless large nibs with Bexley logo available Fine, Medium or Broad.
Poseiden is a oversized pen, with hefty feel in hand, featuring style
cues from classic 1930s American fountain pens. A Mandarin Yellow
Poseiden with customized stub nib is one of my daily users at the
hospital. I like the shape. Kudos to Howard Levy of Bexley for having
custom rod stock whipped up to match the blue of the Israeli
flag. He's done more than I could have expected to let this
happen. |

Current Status: This is a pre-order opportunity. As with the orange and black special edition Bexley-made pen I commissioned last year,
we must get a minimum order to do the run. The minimum production
run is 50, so I must have 35 pens pre-ordered to justify the project.
If more are ordered, I can increase the single production run of
course. My SE pen last year sold out quickly. If you might want an Israel 70th pen, please don't wait.
The ordering period will likely be just a week or two. As per last
year's successful SE pen, should we not hit minimum order, all Paypal
payments of course will be promptly refunded. |
||
Ordering: Each pen will cost $235 + shipping.
Shipping in USA will run $12 insured priority mail for the boxed pen.
International priority shipping $40 for boxed pen. In your paypal
message space, please specify Fine, Medium, or Broad point.
Based on personal experience, Broad points lend themselves to
conversion by nibmeisters to excellent stubs, my favorite point.
If you would like a solid gold (no Bexleylogo) nib, upcharge is $180
(availability pending. Gold nbi price might adjust). Please email
before ordering to confirm solid gold nib. Ordering will be open only a week or two as we determine if enough orders are present to do the run. |

You can join the discussion! This details still are being finalized regarding at least the engraving. The cap can be engraved in the long axis and will be marked at least "Israel 70th Anniversary SE" or equivalent. We're looking into having a Hebrew lettered engraving as well. Might be able to get a Star of David on there somewhere as well. Here are some links: | ||

About the seller: Yeah, it is I, David Isaacson. 20-year collector of fountain pens (focus on the old stuff). Website is Vacumania.com for retail pen sales and more, named in tribute to the Parker Vacumatic. My pen photography has appeared in one major pen book
(Fountain Pens Past and Present, by Paul Erano), and I have
written and/or contributed photos to oodles of fountain pen magazine
articles over the years. Probably 125 fountain pen collector shows
attended. Hospital Doc in real life. At least I think it's real
life. |
